How to Stake TRX and Vote for a Super Representative

Step-by-step Stake 2.0 guide: stake TRX for energy, vote for a Super Representative, claim rewards and unstake.

Staking TRX does two things at once: it gives you energy or bandwidth every day, and it gives you TRON Power — votes you can give to Super Representatives in exchange for rewards. This guide walks through both.

Step 1: Stake TRX (Stake 2.0)

In a wallet that supports TRON staking (for example TronLink):

  1. Open the staking / resources section.
  2. Choose how much TRX to stake and whether you want energy or bandwidth. If you send TRC-20 tokens such as USDT, choose energy.
  3. Confirm. Your resources appear immediately and regenerate every 24 hours.

How much energy you get per TRX depends on how much TRX the whole network has staked. Our staking calculator shows today's rate and how much TRX you need for a given number of free USDT transfers per day.

Step 2: Vote for a Super Representative

Staked TRX becomes TRON Power at a 1:1 ratio. To earn rewards:

  1. Open the voting section of your wallet.
  2. Pick one or more candidates. Compare voter APY, commission and productivity on our Super Representatives page.
  3. Allocate your votes and confirm.

Rewards accrue every voting cycle (6 hours). In most wallets you claim them manually.

Step 3: Unstaking

When you unstake, energy and votes tied to that TRX are removed straight away, and the TRX becomes withdrawable after a 14-day waiting period. Plan ahead if you might need the funds.

Staking or renting energy?

Staking makes sense when you transact regularly and don't need the TRX for a while — you get energy and voting rewards. If you only send USDT occasionally, renting energy avoids locking capital.
